For the second year in a row, Kingston has been ranked Greater London’s safest Borough. Recently released statistics from the Metropolitan Police Service show that Kingston has the lowest number of notifiable offences, and the second highest detection rate out of London’s 32 Boroughs.
While this is down to the hard work of Kingston’s dedicated police officers, James Berry MP has played his part by:
– Leading a successful campaign for 12 extra police officers in the Borough
– Leading a successful campaign with local residents for Automatic Number Plate Technology on the A3 to help detect burglars exploiting the A3 corridor
– Championing the police in Parliament and as a member of the powerful House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee.
Commenting, James Berry MP said:
“It’s great news for local residents that Kingston is once again London’s safest Borough. I commend the police on their excellent work and on their resolve to reduce crime further, particularly after the recent spate of domestic burglaries in Berrylands, Tolwoth and Old Malden.
When I was elected two years ago I pledged to work to give the police the tools they need to do their job. Having successfully campaigned for extra police officers and crime fighting technology, I’ve been delivering on that pledge. This shows how a hardworking Conservative local MP working with Theresa May’s strong and stable Conservative government delivers for local people in our Borough.”
